Today’s video is the Sherlock Holmes Ripper case file, find out all about this long running series of murder mystery games and why the Ripper files stand out from the others.

To follow up on the ripper points, there is such a difference between detective fiction and it’s clean and clever murder cases with logical motives and subltle clues. And the multiple hour long evisceration of Mary Kelly at the hands of Jack the ripper. Having seen the autopsy photos and reading about the Ripper case in much detail in the past, it’s a world apart from the likes of Holmes, Ms Marple, Poirot and their ilk. Now, they have done a very good job of making the case files for the ripper cases exceptionally well grounded in fact and respectful of the source material and the historic nature of the events, it’s not played for laughs or looked down on. It’s just, very different to the normal cases, an acquired taste if you will. I grew up in a house where murder was discussed a lot.
My father was a CIB detective, which is NZ’s serious crimes unit. He mostly investigated burglaries, robberies and rapes. But i believe he also investigated 11 murders in his 19 years in the job. And he kept copies of those case files at home in his office, which i read in my teens and probably shouldn’t have. Anyway, my point here is I have a high tolerance for looking at this kind of stuff, but not everyone does. So it’s worth being acutely aware of just how dark these ripper cases get.
