The abyss recap is here and will be going live shortly. And the weird thing about Abyss is that gameplay wise, it’s nothing that special. It’s a very run of the mill sort of set collection game totally elevated by its artwork and theming. It’s one of those games that does and awful lot right, and not much wrong. Yet for me its slightly short of greatness.
If i had a tier down from the gold medal it would get that easily. And I am definitely keeping my copy for a long long time and would happily play it again. But……
It’s not a game that gets me thinking after the game. In the moment it’s good and enjoyable. But it does get that brain whirring after a game thinking “what should i do next time”
PS I spent WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much time on this video fiddling around with audio effects and doing other silliness that probably doesn’t add much to the review. But when i get a dumb idea, i follow that dumb idea to its conclusion. Please listen to the video outro and validate my time wasting 🙂
